Ergonomic risk factors associated with an employee’s work can result in injury and lost productivity. Any job can have one or more of the following ergonomic risk factors: forceful exertions, awkward postures, localized compression or contact stress, whole-body or segmental vibration, temperature extremes, repetitive motions, static or sustained postures. An ergonomic assessment is an objective measure of the ergonomic risk factors in the workplace that may lead to injuries among the workers. The result of the ergonomic assessment can assist HR to recognize and evaluate the exposures to ergonomic risk factors in the workplace and therefore, they can take required steps to reduce injury and increase comfort in the workplace.
